Training and nutrition during GLP-1 treatment

GLP-1 medications sharply reduce intake, and part of the weight lost comes from lean mass. The scientific literature converges on two supportive measures: keeping protein intake high and maintaining resistance training throughout treatment. It is also necessary to address what happens afterward: discontinuation is typically followed by regain, and a plan that does not prepare for this leaves the individual stranded. Letz does not prescribe, adjust, or give opinions on the medication—it provides the nutrition and training support around it.

Rules and studies

  1. 01Nutritional Support During GLP-1 TreatmentMonitoring should prioritize symptoms, nutritional adequacy, protein, resistance training, and preserving lean mass and function. In injection mode, the plan never drops below 2 strength sessions (3 is recommended), daily protein has a floor of 1.2 g/kg (adjusted weight when BMI ≥ 30, minimum 75 g), water stays at 2 L or more, and the coach refers warning symptoms without interpreting them; dose and symptom logging remain off until clinical review.
  2. 02GLP-1: Lean Mass and Regain After DiscontinuationThese medications produce substantial weight loss, part of which is lean mass; upon discontinuation, much of the weight returns. Exercise combined with treatment better preserved body composition and weight maintenance. For users reporting treatment, Letz prioritizes strength and protein in their targets and prepares the transition to maintenance alongside their healthcare provider.
